This year sparks the very first year that the internationally acclaimed Taste Festival hits our shores. Taste Festivals are held in 18 cities around the world including London, Milan and Sydney. Taste of Perth is a food event not to be missed that will take your festival foodie experience well above and beyond the familiar battling of crowds for a nibble on free samples to a higher end design-your-own degustation extravaganza.

For three days the festival will take over Langley Park as hot shot chefs from around town show off their signature dishes in one location. Already secured on the line up are Nobu, Greenhouse, Silks, Print Hall, Lalla Rookh, Bistro Guillaume and el Público with more restaurants to be announced in the coming weeks.

I can already start to imagine what amazing designer dego creations might be able to be created by these amazing Perth chefs; I’m dreaming of freshly shucked oysters topped with cucumber chilli granita from Lalla Rookh, something hyperlocal and sustainable from Greenhouse, the heart stopping Black Miso cod from Nobu, wood grilled black salsify with oyster mushrooms and ricotta from Print Hall and I would love to end it all with el Publico’s peanut butter parfait with dulche de leche praline.

9 Thoughts on “Taste of Perth Competition

  1. My perfect degustation would be a dish from each restaurant there… doesn’t get much better than trying so many incredible restaurants in one day!
As long as oysters, bubbles and a bit of chocolate is involved (not mixed together!) it would be perfect

  2. As I haven’t ate at any of the restaurants I would be interested to try a little bit at each and to find out what the best WA wine to match each dish would be :-) I’ll definitely be wearing my stretchy pants!!

  3. My ideal designer dish would contain lobster, mango and a touch of coconut. But in reality, if its gluten free, I will eat it 😉

  4. My culinary journey would start with Nobu’s black cod miso served with warm mushroom salad with yuzu dressing. Talking a leap to another Asian country, my next dish would be barbecue pork glazed with jarrah honey and roasted crispy pork belly along with the classic Chinese dish – Peking Duck.

Next on my menu would be a little light Mexican – beef salpican with Aunty G’s pickles from El Publico.

From Mexico to France next would be steak tartare served alongside a mini salad nicoise from Guillaume. A skip and a hop across to Italy and Lalla Rookh’s ravioli with figs, walnut, sage and butter.

Moving onto something sweet a trio of homegrown desserts from Greenhouse with distinctly western Australian flavours. And to wrap it up a selection of cheeses from Print Hall – a creamy, a smelly, a hard and a funky!!

All served with accompanying wines, apart from the entrees which would be served with a shot of hot sake and then followed by a lychee and ginger cocktail.

Then home to bed to rest my full belly!!

  5. I don’t want to miss Taste food festival
Perth famous chefs menu will be unforgettable:
    Nobu Style Ceviche mix seafood,
Bistro Guillaume Berkshire Pork belly likelihood,
Print Hall DUCK FROM WAGIN as main food
Famous Greenhouse lemon myrtle crème brulee, peach, almond crumble is an magnitude

  6. From Bistro Guillaume a seafood bisque to start
Stewing and brewing with lots of heart
From fine dining to carts it’s treasured
Where the seafood lover is pleasured
More Asian food now if you please
    Thai, Indian, Pho, Chinese
    All these are restaurants galore
    With more always in store
Time for dessert, ice cream I think
    But before that a drink
    Merlot
I’ll die happy if this was my last meal on death row

  7. I thought here in the West
    Folks loved meat the best,
My yearning for pork from Silks is clear
It should be the food of the year!

    Lest you think I’m done
I assure you I’ve only begun
    Second course is poultry
    A tender bird that’s savoury

Lastly Lalla Rookh I will pay tribute
Their panna cotta deserves a salute
But I will eat with my eyes
Or it will show on my thighs!

  8. If you like throwing your money away… and you absolutely love standing in line for 20 minutes outside tents waiting for food when you’re hungry… and you like paying significantly more for food than you would if you are being served that same food at tables in a restaurant… and you like paying $35 before you even order any food… and you like cold food once that food’s been served to you… and you like watching a hoi polloi “star” from mY kItChEn RuLeZzZz gurn harder than anyone you’ve ever seen at Belvoir Amphitheatre whilst cooking… then TASTE OF PERTH is the event for you.

    • Sorry to hear you had a terrible time Ian. Perhaps send the organisers an email voicing our thoughts?
